Microwave Laboratory

The Microwave Laboratory is a state-of-the-art experimental facility which provides modern measurement capabilities in the field of high frequencies, microwaves sensing and microwave heating. With technical staff with more than 20 years of experience, the laboratory includes all the required equipment for the design of RF and microwave circuits, simulation, fabrication, measurement and evaluation of prototypes or pilot plants from low MHz to more than 50 GHz.

Staff

At our research institute, our laboratory is not just about cutting-edge facilities but also about the highly skilled personnel operating them. Our team comprises experts with over 20 years of experience, including University Professors, research fellows, research staff, engineers, and technicians.

Primarily, our specialists are in telecommunications engineering, though we are seeing an increasing presence of experts in materials engineering. This diverse expertise ensures that our laboratory remains at the forefront of research and innovation in multiple disciplines.

Facilities

  • Vector Network Analyzers up to 50GHz: Rohde&Schwarz models ZVA50, ZNB40, ZNB8-4 and ZVL 13.
  • Microwave synthesizer: Anapico APSIN6010, from 9kHz to 6GHz.
  • Mass spectrometer: TecnoVac OmniStar.
  • Raman Spectrometer: ProRaman-L-532-B1S, TSI-Inc.
  • Temperature measurement instruments from -20 °C up to 1500 °C Optris models PI400, PI1M, PI160 and FLIR ThermaCAM E45.
  • High-power microwave generators at 2.45GHz (up to 6kW) and 915MHz (up to 30KW): MKS models SM1280 & TM060, SM1250 & TM030, SM1250 & TM030, SAIREM model GLP180.
  • Solid state microwave generators up to1kW: RF-Core models RCA2327H53B, RCAN2G4H56D1 and Sairem GLS600W.
  • Precision Mechanical workshop including CNC lathe (CMZ TB-46M) and milling machine (Lagun 4CNC).
